2024 Events That Inspire Peace Building
Our Peace Pilgrimige - From Auschwitz to Hiroshima

Brian and Lisa Berman embarked on a once-in-a-lifetime “Peace Pilgrimage – From Auschwitz to Hiroshima,” a journey that brought together leaders and change-makers dedicated to global peace and reconciliation. The week-long pilgrimage, which takes place in September 2024, is convened by Unity.Earth/Japan and culminates on the International Day of Peace in Hiroshima on September 21, 2024.
The Berman’s just returned from Poland volunteering for the One Humanity Institute and the House of Hope for 1 ½ years. During their time in Poland, their work was dedicated to supporting Ukrainian refugees and promoting peace programs through the One Humanity Institute in Oswiecim/Auschwitz.
They now continue their mission by participating in this peace pilgrimage to Japan, which will gather peace advocates from diverse backgrounds to inspire peace and global healing. It began for the Bermans on September 12th, arriving on the 13th in Tokyo to meet the delegation, continuing to Mt. Fuji, and ending in Hiroshima, a city of hope and renewal, on September 21st, International Peace Day. Global leaders will join together on that day calling for a future of unity, peace, and compassion.
“This pilgrimage represents a powerful and symbolic journey from the darkest chapters of human history toward a shift in human consciousness where peace, empathy, and love prevail,” said Brian Berman. “We are honored to be part of this global effort to “Cultivate a Culture of Peace” – this year’s United Nations theme for International Peace Day.
The Bermans are raising funds to support their participation and continue their peace-building efforts now they have returned to their home. Contributions will go toward travel expenses, lodging, and support for ongoing peace programs in Ojai and beyond. They are dedicated to create Centers for Peace based upon their peace building mission.

In 2022, we were invited to volunteer in Poland, caring for Ukrainian mothers and children that fled to Poland due to the war. We moved to Poland and volunteered for the One Humanity Institute. The building in Osweicim/Auschwitz was where 9 apartments were constructed to house the Ukrainians, as well as a Peace Lab and office where Lisa and I worked. Our time there as peace builders, from November 2022-April 2024 was deeply enriching as we worked together with such important work. We are One Humanity and our service was to bring our Compassion and Love to all we met.
